The context to the reference on this website about ‘A Good Stop’: There was a Catholic priest in Austin named Fr Bob Scott. He was an amazing man, and a favorite of our boys who attended St Austin’s as he would spend a portion of his homily on sports scores, highlights of specific games, and calling out students for their success on the field. He was originally from New Jersey, and he often related a story about how his father, when they would go out for a meal, generally would go to the same place. Asked by the younger Fr. Scott about why they would always go to the same tavern, his father would say “…because this is a good stop”. We all experience many times where we have been blessed to be part of a dinner party, or an event, where we realize the value of being around friends and family, and say, how this is a ‘good spot’.
